The history of Düsseldorf Airport

Düsseldorf International Airport (IATA code: DUS • ICAO code: EDDL) is located 8 km north of Düsseldorf. Inaugurated on April 19, 1927, it now serves 180 destinations and hosts 70 airlines. Every day, around 500 planes take off or land from the airport and with more than 24 million travelers in 2018, it is, after the airports of Frankfurt and Munich, the third German airport.

1997 : start of construction of a mainline station east of the airport.
1998 : wing A, refurbished, is reopened. The airport changes its name from "Düsseldorf Rhein-Ruhr" to "Düsseldorf international". The reconstruction of the central building and the B wing begins.
